ALABAMA STORY
By Kenneth Jones
Directed by Melissa Lucero McCarl
September 27-October 26, 2025

As the Civil Rights movement is brewing, a controversial children’s book about a black rabbit marrying a white rabbit stirs the passions of a segregationist State Senator and a no-nonsense State Librarian in 1959 Montgomery, Alabama. A contrasting story of childhood friends—an African American man and a woman of white privilege, reunited in adulthood—provides private counterpoint to the public events swirling in the state capital. Political foes, star-crossed lovers, and one feisty children’s author inhabit the same page in a Deep South of the imagination that brims with humor, heartbreak, and hope. Inspired by true events!

LET NOTHING YOU DISMAY!
By Topher Payne
Directed by Paul Jaquith
November 22-December 21, 2025

It's Christmas, and Kevin and Allie are about to become parents- they're just waiting for a phone call. And though they've asked their families to keep their distance until they bring the baby home, of course no one keeps their distance. Kevin's father visits with his much-younger wife and their extended clan, followed by Kevin's mother with her veterinarian, her upstairs neighbor, and her favorite author, and then Allie's family invades, including her ultra-competitive sister, her Bubbie, and Bubbie's gentleman friend. Eight actors play twenty-two characters in this lightning-paced holiday farce that celebrates families of all kinds.

H-E-DOUBLE CROOKED LETTER
By Leonard Madrid
Directed by Debra Gallegos and Beki Pineda
February 7-March 8, 2026

Three Latine cousins have opened a gate to Hell in their grandma's living room, and now they can't get it closed! In this world premiere, the author of CEBOLLAS and PRIMA'S GUIDE TO FUNERALS, takes us on a hilarious, and ultimately heart-warming, journey to the dark side. Firehouse presented this clever and warm-hearted play as a staged reading in 2024 and now it’s ready for a full production.

WHITE
By James iJames
Directed by Julie Kaye Wolf
April 4-May 2, 2026

Jane, an art curator, wants to “change the face of [the] museum to truly reflect America.” She excludes her artist friend, Gus, a white gay man, arguing that “white dudes” have had their turn. Outraged and desperate to have his work included, Gus hires Vanessa, a Black actress, to perform as Balkonaé Townsend, a brash and political artist that will fit the museum’s desire for “new voices.” Everything is great, until Balkonaé takes over and Gus has to deal with the mess he’s made. The play spins out of control as it explores issues of race, gender, sexuality, and art.

THE CAKE
By Bekah Brunstetter
Directed by Troy Lakey
May 30-June 28, 2026

Della makes cakes, not judgment calls – those she leaves to her husband, Tim. But when the girl she helped raise comes back home to North Carolina to get married, and the fiancé is actually a fiancée, Della’s life gets turned upside down. She can’t really make a cake for such a wedding, can she? For the first time in her life, Della has to think for herself.
